Book Suggestions

The world today moves at a rapid pace. We are constantly bombarded with updates and stories.  Because information is so easy to access and publish it can be difficult to know where to look for reliable information. Sorting through information on a topic you don’t know much about can prove to be a futile experience. In the world of aromatherapy, it’s important to find information by a trusted source so I’m sharing a few book suggestions. The books listed below have been written by respected experts in the aromatherapy world.

Andrea Butje is the founder of Aromahead Institute. She is a licensed massage therapist as well as an aromatherapist and is the recipient of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists Lifetime Achievement Award. Her two books are The Heart of Aromatherapy and Essential Living.

Leslie Moldenaur is the owner of where she advocates for safe usage. She graduated with a degree in CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) and has over 400 hours of training in aromatherapy. Her book is Essential Oils-Safe Use for the Home. It’s a great book for anyone completely new to essential oils.

Valerie Ann Wormwood is an English Aromatherapist and she researches essential oils and how they can impact women’s health. Her book The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy contains over 600 recipes making it a valuable resource for anyone to add to their home library.

Because herbs and essential oils are commonly used together I wanted to include an herbal book recommendation. Rosemary Gladstar is known all over the world as an herbal medicine expert. She is the founder of the Sage Mountain Retreat Center & Native Plant Preserve in New England. She has several books available. Medicinal Herbs: A Beginner’s Guide: 33 Healing Herbs to Know, Grow, and Use is a great book for someone just getting acquainted with herbalism.

These are just a few of the books available on aromatherapy. When searching for a resource always check on the author’s background to make sure they have sufficient experience and education to guide you as you grow deeper into your relationship with plants and oils.
